The Gift Of Green

Hey flower lovers!  Need some color and scent through the winter months?   Last year I purchased some bulbs and forced them through the winter.  It was past due to start the growing season again.  I scrounged an old metal container from my pile, downloaded some awesome pics from The Graphics Fairy, (thanks again)    and modge-podged them to each side.

I got out the roll of plastic, and trimmed enough off to line the container.  I filled the container with gravel.

Next, I trimmed off the plastic and  sealed the edge of the plastic to the container with foil tape.

I tied a bow on it for pretties and will keep this for the winter.

The rest of the bulbs are going to be gifts.  I grabbed some tea light holders from my "pile" and removed the candle inserts.

I washed the gravel, carefully poured it into the glass holders, and pushed the bulb half way down.  Fill water to the top of the gravel.

As the roots get established, water will have to be kept to the bottom of the bulb.     Make pretty with a bow and that's the gift of green!
Cheers!

A Chai Christmas Card

I had a brilliant idea today so I dug out some cardstock from my stash.

I headed over to The Graphics Fairy and had a look at her labels.  Thanks again Graphics Fairy.

I found one that of course had tea
 written all over it...
"Galon de Coton" means "Drink Tea and Enjoy!"

Don't read this Magali or Heathers' daughters.

I downloaded it, modified it to make it personal,  and printed four per page.  I tore the labels with a ruler into equal sizes as  I didn't want the edges to look cut.

I sewed each one  onto a piece of cardstock.

I grabbed another piece of cardstock, and sewed it onto the back, so that  I formed an pouch with a label on the front.

Two holes were punched in the top.

My homemade Chai was put into plastic bags from the dollar store and each card was tied with some ribbon.   To see my chai mix recipe, click H E R E !

Homemade Linen Spray

I found this recipe on line after doing a lot of research on how to make linen spray.  The ingredients were easy enough to get, in fact you can order them through the site that I got the recipe from.  Find it here!
I was able to buy some heavy duty sprayers, and I downloaded a cool label from The Graphics Fairy.  I put Linen Spray, the scent and ingredients on the label with my print program.

 LINEN SPRAY RECIPE

Sprinkle on sheets or other other linens to freshen. Spray on linens before ironing.
1 teaspoon (100 drops) lavender essential oil
5-10 drops peppermint, spearmint or rosemary essential oil (optional)
2 oz. formulator's alcohol
24 oz. distilled water
Pour essential oils and alcohol into a bottle, cap and shake to emulsion. Mix with distilled water. Mix will cloud, and eventually separate.
Shake well before each use.

I added polysorbate 20 to my mix.  You don't need it using the formulators alcohol, but it is added insurance that my water and oil will not separate.   I added the same amount of polysorbate 20 as the essential oils

Measure the oil, polysorbate 20, and formulators alcohol. Shake it up to mix well.

Add water.  It takes on a milky appearance!

Pour into spray containers

Label from The Graphics Fairy.  See link above.

A Christmas Village

With Christmas soon approaching, it is time to pull out my tedious tasks and make them look  fun.  The Tom Sawyer effect.

My sister happened to stop by and I knew I could succer her into helping me let her help me put this wonderful little village together.  I enticed her with some chocolate port.

Have a Great Day!
Cheers!
