Homemade Linen Spray

 I found this recipe on line after doing a lot of research on how to make linen spray.  The ingredients were easy enough to get, in fact you can order them through the site that I got the recipe from.  Find it here!

I was able to buy some heavy duty sprayers, and I downloaded a cool label from The Graphics Fairy.  I put Linen Spray, the scent and ingredients on the label with my print program.  

 LINEN SPRAY RECIPE

Sprinkle on sheets or other other linens to freshen. Spray on linens before ironing.
1 teaspoon (100 drops) lavender essential oil
5-10 drops peppermint, spearmint or rosemary essential oil (optional)
2 oz. formulator's alcohol
24 oz. distilled water
Pour essential oils and alcohol into a bottle, cap and shake to emulsion. Mix with distilled water. Mix will cloud, and eventually separate.
Shake well before each use. 

I added polysorbate 20 to my mix.  You don't need it using the formulators alcohol, but it is added insurance that my water and oil will not separate.   I added the same amount of polysorbate 20 as the essential oils

Measure the oil, polysorbate 20, and formulators alcohol. Shake it up to mix well.

Add water.  It takes on a milky appearance!

Pour into spray containers

A Christmas Village

With Christmas soon approaching, it is time to pull out my tedious tasks and make them look  fun.  The Tom Sawyer effect.   

My sister happened to stop by and I knew I could succer her into helping me let her help me put this wonderful little village together.  I enticed her with some chocolate port.

Copy Cat Snowman Gift

Welcome back!  I was so inspired a few days ago when I saw some pretty cute snowmen by Laurie Furnell Designs. ***UPDATE   I immediately downloaded the free printable in 2011 but now I see it is no longer available.***  You can go to her Etsy site for a buck and get the download!  It is well worth it!

Print it onto photo paper.   Trim off the excess at the black lines.  Place the popcorn in the paper, fold it around, and tape the back. 

From one plaid dollar store scarf, cut each scarf about 1 1/2 inches wide..

I tied the scarf around the snowman....careful you don't want to choke the little guy.  I put the stretchy glove on my hand and then put the other one on top, so that they get a pair of gloves out of the deal.  This becomes the hat.

Grab some ribbon from your stash and tie the toque.  

All 32 of them.

Homemade Cleaner

 Homemade Cleaner

4 Cups Water

7/8 cup brown sugar

1 Large Pineapple carcass

And then I added 2 more cups of water and

3/8 more cup of brown sugar

  We recently had a fresh pineapple so I gathered all the ingredients together and took a picture of course.

I measured my sugar into a gallon glass jar as I didn't have a plastic juice bottle because of Our Carbonated Water System.  Haha!  I knew I could slip a link in here from another  blog post.

Poured my water in to join the sugar. 

I sliced  the pineapple remains and realized I had more than the recipe called for, so I added more sugar and water. 

I covered the jar with some plastic wrap and put an elastic, well actually it's a hairband cause I couldn't fine an elastic in the junk drawer.

So here we are.....waiting, waiting and waiting.

  In February, I hope to be scrubbing my toilet and watering my plants with this miracle juice.  I will keep you posted.

Update.....Not my cup of tea.  I think I will keep buying my cleaners and fertilizer for plants.

Our Hacked Sodastream

Yikes Sodastream.  Your refills are pricey.

  Our solution..... We looked on-line and found CO2 Doctor.  Make sure you buy pressure rated parts.  Compressed gasses can be very dangerous.    The parts are very pricey but the service was awesome.  We bought a 20 pound CO2 tank from a local supplier.

Because hubby and man child are avid paintballers, we had an abundance of  20 ounce CO2 tanks for paintball guns.  We ran a hose from our Sodastream machine, through the counter top, to a paintball canister.

The CO2 container has to be upright and not on its side.  This was an easy fix.  Cut the shelf and drill a new hole for the support.

We had to drill two holes into the countertop.  The first hole is for the hose.  This hole goes right through the counter top to the cupboard below.  The Sodastream machine is plastic and lightweight and I felt it would get knocked off the counter, so it too is attached to the countertop from the second hole, which is only drilled halfway through the counter top.  The bolt was epoxied in, and a hole drilled through the base of the Sodastream drip tray.

A Dremel tool was used to grind away the ribs to make room for the nut.

I  hardly lost any cupboard space.

  Now it sits firmly on the counter top with little fear of cheap plastic shards all over the floor.
