A No Knead Bread Recipe

I can't take credit for one single iota of this post as I didn't invent the recipe and I didn't even find it on the internet.  Mr. FT did the legwork for this one.
But I did make it cuz it's pretty much foolproof.

So here it is... a no knead recipe, which we must give credit where credit is due!  You can find the complete instructions and recipe at
Jim Lahey of Sullivan Street Bakery

3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups water (I used 1 3/4)
1/4 tsp yeast
1 1/4 tsp salt
olive oil for coating (I used canola)
extra flour, wheat bran, or cornmeal for dusting

 No sugar....weird hey
So check out his recipe for "the how to" as he will explain it so much better than I ever could,
plus I am too lazy to type it all out.

Dough all covered in plastic doing its thing

Getting it ready for its final rise

One thing I did different  on the advice of Mr. FT was oil a dinner plate really well and rest the dough on the plate with a tea towel lightly covering it.  Just make sure you put flour on the top of your dough    I tried Jim Lahey's towel method and the dough just stuck to it no matter how much flour I used....don't ask me why.

This was a different loaf of bread I made.  I cut slits in the top to make kinda fancy but it got eaten before I had a chance to take pics.

Can't you picture the spinach dip inside??

Check out some more sexy pictures of blueberry jam and bread HERE!!!
You should also spy his pizza method HERE!

  1. Totally picturing a spinach dip with blueberry jam and cream scones....heaven

I still don't get why it works (no kneading) but I have to try it!

  2. Pinning this. Now..if I only had some awesome, sexy blueberry jam!

  3. I love bread.I mean, seriously LOVE bread! This past year I have been making a lot of my own, and I find that I HATE the kneading part of it. I am going to go swipe that recipe right now! lol. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Oh, and what a steal on that dutch oven! I hardly ever wander the kitchen section of Goodwill, but after seeing this and the cake pans my cousin just scored at hers, I am going to be checking that section out from now on!

  4. I loveee bread but have not made one ever.
Will certainly try to make this one.
By any chance would you know the calorific value of this yummy looking bread?

  5. Yum...I've made this kind of bread before, but mine didn't turn out as pretty. I still want to come to your house and play.

  6. Oh my goodness, I LOVE fresh bread and then you go and make blueberry jam - I'm in heaven! AND THEN you have us imagine spinach dip in it?!? I'm almost licking the computer screen. :D Looks delish.

  7. I love homemade bread. It looks so delicious... and no kneading? That's awesome. I can almost smell it!

  8. I don't make it much (obvious reasons), but I love homemade bread! This looks good and sounds easy enough. I would probably try using this for pizza dough, too.

  9. I have never prepared bread, in part because of the kneading, hmmm maybe I should give it a try, it looks delicious!

  10. Oh great. Just great. *sigh* I've been toying with the notion of making bread again, but putting it off. Then I come here, and....I guess it's karma. Think about something long enough, and it circles around and nips you on the butt. Off to buy yeast now.

  11. AND I just added you to my sidebar so I can come back after I buy the &$%# yeast and forget the recipe.

Cheers to great words!
