A Free Nightstand Makeover

Well here she is in all her glory.
You can check out the before pics  Here! & Here!

Overall I am fairly happy with it.  Was it worth diving in a dumpster.....Heck Yah!

I painted the inside a coral pink (but because I had to use my flash it shows more bubblegum pink).

and cuz yah, I totally got it for $0.49.

I covered a piece of heavy cardboard in wallpaper and attached it to the back.

The crack in all its glory.

The crack repaired with a two part epoxy.

I love the grain of the veneer.  I rubbed the entire piece down with carnauba wax to seal the wood.

The concrete top with two coats of sealer.

A quick look before my funky knobs.

My funky knobs.

Not sure if I will make a basket for the bottom or just call it a day.
Think I'll live with it for a month or so and see how it works.

I was also thinking of painting the entire length of the legs in a checkerboard pattern similar in color to the knobs.
  Any thoughts?

Next up will be the new night stand for Hubby's side,
but first, a porch makeover happened and I was there for the whole thing!
 Cheers!!

Bedside Table Concrete Top

Here's a quick update.
Because I am inpatient, and a few other be cause's,
I have a big a$$ crack on the corner of my pour.

To see part one of the Bedside Table click HERE!
The pour

The crack and the chipping from my impatience.  Nothing epoxy can't fix.

Ready for the grinding.

I put a Mountain Ash leaf in the concrete which will be on the bottom.

No it's not big bird....It's me in hubby's grinding gear.

How lucky am I.

Cheers!!

Free Bedside Table - Part Two

Before

 During

Using scrap wood from, you guessed it, the garbage!

Sanding, painting and building a form for concrete.

I didn't follow the usual recipe for counter tops.  I used a bag of ready mix and added some Portland cement.  I noticed one of the corners has a hairline fracture so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Now

Now for the hardest part.... patience.... as the concrete has to sit for a few weeks before I can continue.

Stay tuned...
Cheers!

FREE FREE FREE

Yep, this beauty was free!
All I can remember is shouting how I wanted
something with curves as I stood knee deep in garbage bags.

With a little dumpster diving and elbow grease,
this former bathroom vanity will be
 transformed.

My plans are to create a new nightstand and give this
 lovely rescue a new life.
Stay tuned.

Cheers!

New Bathroom Curtains

Happy Spring!!!!

A few meters of Ikea fabric.

I bought these grommets for a buck a pack!

Template on back of package....how clever!

I taped a string across the center to keep it lined up on the fabric

Placed the string on my mark... and the edge of the template with the edge of the fabric.

Used a sharpie to mark my circles...

And start cutting!

Grommet half inserted

Just push the two together.  They snap closed.  So easy!

My pretty "Wild and In Your Face" shower curtains!  Really adds a punch of color to my fairly neutral room.

My obsession with hand towels.

Another one.

Some things stay the same like the poop spray!

Mothers Day Picture!
Happy Mothers Day to all you Moms and especially to my  Mom!!
Cheers.

It's Twins!!

I apologize for the poor quality of the photos but I just had to share. If you look at the second photo, you will see the momma owl to the right. It gives you an idea of how big the twins are. Cheers
